Sus poemas han aparecido en Panorama inédito de la poesía colombiana (Procultura, 1986), en una antología bilingüe de poesía colombiana en la revista parisina Creacione y en una antología de Poesía colombiana (1931-2005) de la unam (Universidad Autónoma de México). En narrativa ha publicado las novelas El desencantado de la eternidad (1994; segunda edición en 2011. Traducida al italiano por Viviana Rivera como tesis de grado en la Universidad de Udine). Hábitos nocturnos (2008) y La sonata del peregrino (2013).El libro de cuentos Pequeños crímenes de amor (2010). Y Los poetas malditos: un ensayo libre de culpa (2000). Con El ciego obtuvo el segundo lugar en el Concurso Nacional de Cuento de la ciudad de Barrancabermeja (2005). Ha publicado artículos literarios y periodísticos en las revistas Fractal, Semana Libros, Puesto de Combate, Número, Arcadia y Común Presencia. Actualmente es columnista de literatura del periódico El Tiempo. Y tutor en narrativa de la Maestría en Escrituras Creativas de la Universidad Nacional.
