Por iniciativa de su amigo José María Vergara y Vergara, publicó su primer libro de poesías e hizo su aparición literaria por mediación del grupo del semanario El Mosaico, donde Isaacs dio a conocer algunos de sus escritos. Fue también director y redactor de diarios como La República, El Escolar, El Programa Liberal, la Nueva Era, El Mercurio y Sud América.
